THE BASICS OF HIGHER GROUNDS SERIES

THE BASICS OF HIGHER GROUNDS (PART 1)

INTRODUCTION
In the last study, we considered “The Man on the Mountaintop’’. We were able to look at some characteristics peculiar to men who want to get to the mountaintop.
However, there are some basic foundations the man who wants to get to the mountaintop must take note of.
These basics would be considered in today’s study.
It is my earnest prayer that God will take us to higher grounds in Him in Jesus’ mighty name (amen).

CENTRAL BIBLE TEXT: PHILIPPIANS 3:1-15

THE BASICS OF THE HIGHER LEVEL
There are seven points we would consider about the basics of the higher level.
These include:

  • Foundation for higher level;
  • Aspiration for higher level;
  • Faith for higher level;
  • Hardwork for higher level;
  • Divine favour for higher level;
  • Divine Assistance for higher level and
  • Prayer needed for higher level.

FOUNDATION FOR HIGHER LEVEL
Wherever you are at the moment is the foundation for the next level. Ask God to reveal who you are and where you are at the moment to you. Check your salvation, sanctification, daily lifestyle, use of tongues, eyes, body, time, energy, etc.
Check your level of obedience. What fruits am I producing?

THE BASICS OF THE HIGHER LEVEL(PART 2)

INTRODUCTION
In the last study, we started examining what can form the foundation for us to get to higher level. We categorised this into seven aspects; namely;

  • Foundation,
  • Aspiration,
  • Faith,
  • Hardwork,
  • Divine Favour,
  • Divine Assistance and
  • Prayer.
    We were able to look at foundation and discovered that whatever level you are at the moment is a foundation for moving higher. But you need to check who you are and where you are at the moment.
    It is important you check your salvation, sanctification, daily lifestyle, use of tongues, eyes, body, time, energy, your level of obedience and the fruits you are producing. All these would advise you as to what to do to go higher.
    Today’s study considers other points of the basics of the higher level. It is my earnest prayer that God will take us to higher grounds in Him in Jesus’ mighty name (amen).

CENTRAL BIBLE PASSAGE: II KINGS 2:1-25

A. ASPIRATION FOR THE HIGHER LEVEL
Jesus said because you feel you are whole, you do not need any physician. Most believers remain in the same level because they feel that there is nothing more to press for after salvation. Whereas, there are higher heights that God expects you to attain in life.
Jesus expected the disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they are educed with power from higher. Paul encouraged the Corinthian Church to covet seriously the nest gifts. He also talked about his own aspiration is to know God the more, the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings which comes about through suffering.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained; what is your own aspiration in life? What do you want to become for God’s glory? Make a decision today for higher grounds for God. Have a vision and passion for higher grounds.

THE BASICS OF THE HIGHER LEVEL (PART 3)

INTRODUCTION
In the last study, we looked at aspiration for higher level. Apart from foundation and aspiration, we need faith for the higher level.
Today’s study focuses on this basics for the higher level.

CENTRAL BIBLE PASSAGE: JAMES 2:14-26

A. FAITH FOR THE HIGHER LEVEL
Apart from the fact that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, faith is acting on the Word of God.
It goes beyond just believing to putting your belief into use, into action. Examples abound in the scripture of those who were counted as having faith. They are the ones who acted upon their belief and thereby did exploits and attained the higher grounds to God’s glory. Are you merely believing or acting on the Word of God?
Remember, it is not the hearer but the doer that shall be justified before God. Arise today and put your belief into action. Your progression to higher grounds is imminent and inevitable.

THE BASICS OF THE HIGHER LEVEL (PART4)

INTRODUCTION:
In the last study, we shared together the importance of faith for higher level. Faith is quite needful if we are to overcome obstacles on our way to higher level. Today’s study looks at the aspect of hardwork as a basics of moving to higher level.

CENTRAL BIBLE PASSAGE: LUKE 19:12-27

A. HARDWORK FOR THE HIGHER LEVEL
It is one thing to aspire its another thing to apply yourself to a good stead; careful commitment to a task or goal is hardwork. Hardwork places you on the ladder to success and higher grounds in any area of endeavour. It is the diligent that shall abound in blessings. They are the ones who generally bear rule or are in positions of authority and well placed for good reward. Let’s now identity key areas we need to work hard upon:

  • Visions and Goals;
  • Planning;
  • Timeliness;
  • Prayer;
  • Bible Reading and Study;Obedience to God and higher authority;
  • Soul winning;
  • Love;
  • Home and family;
  • Delegated responsibility and Ministry;
  • Business/ Work;
  • Making Heaven.

THE BASICS OF THE HIGHER GROUND (PART 5)

INTRODUCTION
For sometimes now, we have been studying the basics of moving to a higher level. We have considered amongst others:
1) Your foundation: how is it like? Your Christian experience is it genuine or make up? Salvation, Sanctification and Holy living? How are they like in your life?
2) Aspiration
3) Faith – without which you cannot please God who can take you to higher grounds.
4) Handwork – A crucial basics that is lacking among contemporary Christians. How am I shining the light of Christ? What I’m doing with the grace of God upon my life. Am I serving God with a sense of responsibility and accountability? What key areas should I focus on? Are there rewards for hard work ? These and many other questions were answered in part 4 of this series. Today’s study considers Divine Favour as a basics of higher level.

CENTRAL BIBLE PASSAGE: ROMANS 9:1-33

A. DIVINE FAVOUR
What is Divine Favour?
1. Approving consideration or attention. Partiality or favouritism, popularity.
2. Friendly regard shown towards another especially by a superior.
3. Kindness or an act of kindness beyond what is expected or due. . The kind of favour that you receive from above from God. This favour qualifies you for promotion and higher ground without asking for it. Examples abound in the scriptures of those who were promoted without ever expecting or imagining it. Whereas, if divine favour is not available to you, you might work like a jackal and at the end have nothing to show for it. May this not be your portion in Jesus’ name (amen). Why not ask the Almighty God, the great potter to begin to release His favour into every area of your life. Why not ask Him to reveal what you need to do to qualify for His favour. Consider those that are hallowing Him, the humble and holy.

THE BASICS OF THE HIGHER LEVEL (PART 6)

INTRODUCTION
In the last study we considered divine favour as a basis of moving to the higher level. May we all begin to experience God’s favour in a wonderful way in Jesus’ name (amen). The study ended with the advice of some major qualities that can attract divine favour to an individual.
These are:
1. Hallowing God-which speaks of worship of god in spirit and truth with all our strength and might.
2. Humility-being humble before the Lord in life; God opposes the proud but releases grace to the humble and
3. Holiness-the most resounding attribute of God. He associates only with the holy and not with sinners. Infact, the prayers of sinners are an abomination before Him. Prov. 28:9; Is. 59:1-2; having said all these, we discovered that God’s sovereignty and mercy can decide to locate you for His favour. Rom. 9:13; Ps. 115:3.

Today’s study takes a look at DIVINE ASSISTANCE as a basis for the higher level. If you need divine assistance as you go through this study, shout Alleluia. Divine assistance is coming your way in Jesus’ name (amen).

CENTRAL BIBLE PASSAGE: PSALMS 121:1-8

A. DIVINE ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED TO GO HIGHER IN LIFE
Divine assistance is simply help from above; help from the almighty God. It is support or aid from God. Man can get assistance from another man or the devil or from the elemental or animals or from God.
The best and greatest assistance you can get without any conditions attached to it is from God.
The help from man or the devil or animals or elementals can be limited but that from God is unlimited because God is the almighty. He has divinely assisted multitudes before.

Examples include the following:
Abraham and Sarah: Gen. 18:9-14; 21:1-5
Moses and the children of Israel: Ex. 2:1-10; 14:5-31
David the King: I Sam. 17:37, 45-47
Deborah the Judge: Jud. 4:4-9, 16-24
King Jehoshaphath: 2 Chro. 20:1-13, 15-25
The blind Bartimaeas: Mk. 10:46-52
Lazarus: Jn. 11:1,4,21-25, 41-44
Apostle Paul: Acts 26:22
and Jesus Christ himself: Lk. 22:41-43; Acts 10:38

To receive divine assistance, look unto Him. Do not be discouraged, when man fails to assist you. Seek to qualify for divine assistance, come close to God, be passionate about Kingdom business and be a helper to others.

THE BASICS OF THE HIGHER LEVEL (PART SEVEN)

INTRODUCTION
Glory to God! We have been able to look at six main points on basics of moving to higher level.
They are (1) Foundation to the higher level, (2) Aspiration for the higher level, (3) Faith in the higher Level, (4) Hard work for the higher level, (5) Divine Favour for the higher level and (6) Divine assistance for the higher level.
These are life-changing studies which each believer needs to personally review so as to exercise movements to higher level in every area of life. (Acts 17:10 –11).
Today’s study, which marks the final point that would be considered under this series, focuses on the role of prayer in moving to the higher level.
May the everlasting father that has adopted us into His wonderful and great family, The Higher than the highest bless us richly and move us to the higher level as we study in Jesus name (amen).

CENTRAL BIBLE TEXT: 2 CHRONICLES 7:1-22

A. INTRODUCING PRAYER
Prayer is communicating with/ discussing with, dialogue with, talking to God. Prayer is pleading your case before God, the Judge of the whole earth.
Prayer is praising and worshipping God. Prayer is fulfilling heaven’s desire for God’s people.
Prayer is examining our lives, confessing and repenting from our sins and wicked ways.
Prayer is asking God to do some things for us.
Prayer is appealing to God’s mercy.
Prayer is asking God for His help and Grace.
Prayer is dealing with the works of the enemies arranged against us.

Gen: 18:17-26; Ex. 3:1-15; 2 Sam 22:1-51; Ps. 18:1-50; Ex. 15:1-18,; Rev. 4:10-11; Ps. 117:1-2; Dan. 9:1-22; Ps. 51:1-17; Ps. 2:8; Jere. 33:3; Lk. 18:1-14; Acts. 4:23-31; 2 Cor. 12:3-6

B. PRAYER AND HIGHER LEVELS
From the record of the scriptures and testimonies of people, it is quite clear that prayer and higher levels are synonymous. All the people that prayed in the scriptures and succeeded in their prayer efforts were lifted to higher levels in diverse areas of life; be it spiritual, physical, financial, material, family, bodily, etc.

Gen. 32:7-11, 24-30; 33:15 –20; Gen. 18:1-16; 21:2-3; 1Chr. 4:9-10; Ps. 40:1-5; Ex. 33:9-14; 34:1-8,29-30; 2 Cor. 3:18.

C. LIVING A LIFE OF PRAYER
This starts with an understanding of the need to pray, a decision to pray, a pklan to pray, an action of prayer and a consistency in the place of prayer.
In a nutshell, Understanding, Decision, Plan, Action and consistency are the fire pillars of a life of prayer.
May you begin to pray consistently from today and begin to move from one degree of Glorious encounter with the Lord to another in Jesus’ name (amen).
